Lubov Karetnikova was born in the United States having Russian and Ukrainian ethnicity. She spent her early years in Switzerland before moving with her family to Latvia. Stage opened to her at the age of 3 y.o. starting with ballet. From the age of 6 she attend- ed youth acting school. Later Lubov has finished renowned in Latvia J. Mediņš music school as a pianist.

Lubov has attained her Bachelor’s diploma in Vocal arts and Pedagogy at Jazepa Vitola Latvian Music Academy, 2016; Master diploma in Opera performance at Lithuanian Music and Theater Academy, 2019; Master diploma in Lied and Oratorio at Mozarteum University, where she studied at Barbara Bonney’s and Wolfgang Holzmair’s classes, 2022. Now Lubov is accomplishing concertfach in Lied Duo with her Lied partner – Mexiacan pianist Daniel Ochoa in the class of Pauliina Tukiainen.

Her notable engagements include Gilda in G. Verdi’s Opera “Rigoletto” in Theater-Hof, 2018/2019; Nannetta in G.Verdi opera “Falstaff” at Lithuanian National Philharmonics, 2019; Maria in L. Bernstein’s musical “Westside story” at LMTA with CSMVigo, 2019; Pamina in W.A. Mozarts opera “Die Zauberflote” at Trentino Festival, 2017.

 Other notable engagements include W.A. Mozart “Requiem” solo, featuring famous Riga Cathedral Boys Choir; “110 years of N.Rimsky-Korsakov”, “Wiener songs”, “Sviridov.Mussorgsky.Weinberg.”, “Mozart ,Glinka ,Rimsky-Korsakov” solorecitals organized by Hermann Braun Foundation; “Concert-lectures” at Latvian National Library; “Weinberg 100” festival in Salzburg, Austria and others.

In 2021 Lubov was part of Innopraktika and Russian Seasons festival held in St. Petersburg. Same year she became one of the 8 semifinalist at prestigious ARD Musikwettbewerb in Munich. In 2022, Lubov became a laureate of the DEBUT competition and Belvedere semifinalist as well as a fellow of 3. Internationale Opernwerkstatt Waiblingen with Thomas Hampson.

The audience, critics and her teachers highlight her intelligence, remarkable stage presence and dramatic talent together with her silvery warm timbre. Being an international person, Lubov speaks several languages, which include Russian, English, French, German, Latvian and some Italian.

She believes the real artist’s purpose is to help the audience connect to their own sensitivity and happiness, and she dreams to always achieve this in her art!
