The Romanian mezzo-soprano Ramona Zaharia is familiar at some of the world most renowned stages among which Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Latvia Opera, Teatro Regio di Parma, Teatro Valli Reggio Emilia and her „home-base“ , the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf, where she is an ensemble member since the 2014/15 season.

Furthermore she was invited as guest by opera houses in Seoul, Moscow, Hamburg, Malmö, Cluj-Napoca, Timișoara, Iași, Bucharest, Luxembourg, Brussels, Stuttgart and Riga and festivals in Ljubljana and Istanbul.

The artist had her first international appearance as Carmen on the big open air stage of the Opera Festival St. Margarethen Austria in 2012 where she immediately assured this role as a great success. Since then she sang it in more than 19 different “Carmen” productions. Latvian Opera Riga, Stuttgart Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Metropolitan Opera offered her this most critically acclaimed role as well.

Her repertoire includes roles such as Eboli (Verdi „Don Carlo“), Fenena (Verdi “Nabucco”), Dalila (Saint-Saëns “Samson et Dalila”) Amneris (Verdi “Aida”), Ulrica (Verdi “Un ballo in maschera”), Erda (Wagner “Rheingold”), Dinah (Bernstein “Trouble in Tahiti”), Maddalena (Verdi „Rigoletto“), Principessa di Bouillon (Cilea “Adriana Lecouvreur”), Federica (Verdi „Luisa Miller”) and of course the title-role from Bizet’s masterpiece, “Carmen”.

She sang with world famous conductors including Antonio Pappano, Nicola Luisotti, Jordi Berval, Axel Kober, Johannes Fritzsch, Jacques Lacombe, Antonino Fogliani, David Crescenzi, Alexander Joel, Karen Kamensek, Marie Jacquot and others.

Ramona Zaharia also participated at the 2020 recording of Richard Wagner’s “The Ring of the Nibelung” under the baton of Axel Kober as Erda („Rheingold“), produced by the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and released on all popular streaming platforms.

Her highly praised Maddalena from the Royal Opera House was streamed in the Cinemas from March 2022.

Among of her future engagements are: “Carmen” in Riga and Bucharest, “Adriana Lecouvreur” and NP “Hériodiade” in Düsseldorf, “Rigoletto” in Covent Garden and at the Teatro Real Madrid, etc.
