Mezzo soprano Sanja Anastasia studied at the University of Music and performing Arts in Graz and Vienna, Austria. She was the prize winner of several international singing competitions such as “Jeunesse Musicales” in Belgrad, “Enrico Caruso” in Milano, “Vincenzo Bellini” in Caltanisetta, Italiy and Schloß Rheinsberg, Germany. She received her master degrees in 2005 and became freelance artist. She continued her study in with Prof.Dr.Theodore Coresi in Vienna and later with Ms Brenda Roberts in Germany.
During the last few years, Ms Anastasia raised up into well known international artist. Her repertoire comprehends roles of Verdi’s mezzo-soprano fach like Amneris in Aida, Ulrica (Un Ballo in Maschera), Azucena (Il Trovatore), Eboli (Don Carlo), Fenena (Nabucco), Maddalena (Rigoletto), but also Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana (P. Mascagni), La Principessa in Adriana Lecouvreur (F.Chilea), Judith in Bluebierd’s Castel (B.Bartok), Klytemnästra (Elektra) and Herodias (Salome) by R. Strauss, as well as title role of Carmen (G.Bizet) and others.
On the concert platform Ms Anastasia had worked with Belgrade Philharmony and Radio Orchestra, Slovenian Philharmony and Radio Orchestra, Sarajevo Philharmony, Brandenburg Philharmony, Moscow Philharmony, Cape Town Philharmony and Orchestra Fondazione Arena di Verona, as well as Frankfurt and Hof Symphonic and Tokyo Philharmony Orchestra.
She is performing with international known colegues, singers, conductors and stage directors in numerous theaters and festivals in Europe, Turkey, Egypt, South Africa, South Korea and Japan.
Upcoming engagements include Asucena in Trovatore at Staatstheater Braunschweig.#
In 2024 she sang Amneris at Teatro Vittorio Emanuele di Messina, Azucena in Il Trovatore at National Theatre Belgrade and the National Opera and Ballet of the Republic of Macedonia, Carmen at SNP Novi Sad and at the National Theatre Belgrade.
In 2021 and 2022 she sang La Principessa di Bouillon in Adriana LeCouvreur at the Staatstheater Mainz, Germany, and the title role in Carmen at the State Opera Stara Zagora.
In 2020 her engagements included Eboli in Don Carlo on National Theater in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Ulrica in Bari, Italy.
On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the National Theater in Belgrade in 2019, Ms. Anastasia was a guest of honor at Verdi’s Aida, where in the role of Amneris she successfully celebrated her return to the, so called, “big stage” of her hometown.
Ms. Anastasia gave her German debut as Azucena in Il Trovatore at the Openair Festival ”Fortress Ehrenbreitstein” in Koblenz and also sang Verdi’s Requiem with Hof Simphoniker. With huge success she was the Carmen at the Taormina Festival in Italy and had gala concert and performances in Belgrade. She sag Azucena in Gozo (Malta), gala concert in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria.
In 2018 Ms. Anastasia gave her Japan debut as Amneris in Aida production with Tokyo Philharmony under the baton of Maestro Andrea Battistoni and Nikikai Opera Foundation in Sapporo, Yokohama, Hyogo and Oita.
With Prokofiev’s cantata “Aleksandar Nevsky” and Mainz Simphony Orchestra, Ms Anastasia seccessfully returned to the stage of her hometown of choice and finished the year as Fenena in Nabucco with Opera Varna in Brüssel.
As Fenena in Nabucco, Ms Anastasia made her debut on well known Openair Festival Arena di Verona in Italy 2013 celebrating its 100th anniversary. Since than she has performed regulary in Verona as Amneris, Carmen, Ulrica and Fenena.
From 2011-2013 Sanja Anastasia was member of State Theater Mainz.
Her successful production of AIDA at Theater Coccia in Novara is released on DVD and broadcoasted on Classica TV Italia. Also released on CD rarely interpreted opera PRINCE OF HOMBURG (H.W.Henze) in live recordings from State Theater Mainz in Germany.
She made also diferent live recordings and TV broadcasts in South Corea, Serbia, Japan, Bulgaria and Bosnia and Hercegovina.
