Budapest-born soprano Sylvia Hamvasi studied at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of music in her hometown. In the course of her studies, she attended master classes with Vera Rozsa, Julia Hamari and Nicholas Clapton. Her masters were Ilona Bakonyi, Julia Bikfalvy and Gabor Jelinek.
Sylvia Hamvasi won several prizes at intarnational competitions, such as Lucia Popp in Bratislava or Francesco Vignas in Barcelona.
She was member of the Youth Opera Studio FIBO in Budapest.
Future engagements include Infantin Isabella in Märchen im Grand-Hotel, Belinda in Der Leuchtturm / Dido Und Aeneas, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Antonia in
Les contes d’Hoffmann (Hoffmanns Erzählungen) sowie Micaëla (Michaëla) in Carmen an der Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
In 2024 she sang,amongst other parts, Infantin Isabella in Märchen im Grand-Hotel and Blanche de La Force in Dialogues des Carmélites an der Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
2023 saw her as Liù in Turandot, Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte
Le nozze di Figaro (Die Hochzeit des Figaro), La Contessa di Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro at Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
In March 2022 she debuted as `Katja´ in Janacek´s Katja Kabanowa, followed by her act as Nedda in Leoncavallo`s Pagliacci and finally as Ortlinde in Wagner`s Walküre and Freia in Wagner`s Rheingold.
In 2021 Sylvia Hamvasi sang, amongst other parts, Madame in Weinberg: Maseltov along with Erste Dame in Zauberflöte.
Her debut was as Gilda and Pamina at the Hungarian State Opera. In Budapest, she gave many concerts and made recordings for the Hungarian Radio under the direction of Tamas Vasary with the Hungarian Radio Orchestra. Hamvasi additionally had several early music projects with the Orfeo Orchestra under György Vashegyi.
She gave concerts e. g. in Belgium,Spain,France, and Italy ( under the direction of Zoltan Pesko ). Her recital at London`s Wigmore Hall of Schubert, Schumann and Brahms songs was met great recognition as well as the Four last songs of Richard Strauss under the direction of Axel Kober at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf.
She has performed e.g. at the Hamburg State Opera as Erminde in Keiser`s Jodelet (under M.Alessandro de Marchi), in Bonn as Mimi (staged by Dietrich Hilsdorf), in Wuppertal as Mimi (staged by Jan David Schmitz) and Frankfurt as Konstanze and Antonia ( staged by Christof Loy).
Since 2001/2002 , she is a permament member of the Ensemble of Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf.
