Belgian bass Tijl Faveyts' recent highlights brought him as Kezal (»Die verkaufte Braut«) to the Semperoper Dresden, as Rocco (»Fidelio«) to the Teatro Cervantes Malaga, as Colline (»La Boheme«) at the Cologne Opera and as Eremit (»Der Freischütz«) to the Konzerthaus Berlin.

After his studies in Brussels and at the university of music in Vienna he became internationally known in 2006 when he performed Sarastro (“Die Zauberflöte”) under Daniel Harding’s baton at the Festival Aix-en-Provence.

He has been a member of the Theater Sankt Gallen untill 2012 and from 2013 to 2019 he joined the Ensemble of the Aalto-Theater Essen, where he was seen in roles like Daland (»Der fliegende Holländer«), König Marke (»Tristan und Isolde«), Commendatore (»Don Giovanni»), Osmin (»Die Entführung aus dem Serail«), Don Basilio (»Il barbiere di Siviglia«), Sparafucile (»Rigoletto«), Ramphis (»Aida«), Oroveso (»Norma«), Eremit (»Freischütz«), Doktor (»Wozzeck«), Ferrando ((»Il Trovatore«), Gremin (»Eugen Onegin«) and Comte des Grieux (»Manon«). In september 2019 he became a member of the Komische Oper Berlin.

Guest appearances led him to the Oper Bonn, the Vlaamse Opera, the Opéra de Lille, the theatre de la Monnaie Brussels, the Gärtnerplatztheater Munich, the Wiener Festwochen, the Theater an der Wien, the ABAO Bilbao, the Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam, the Oper Leipzig, the Staatsoper Stuttgart, the Tschaikowsky Concert Hall Moscow, the Lincoln Center New York, the NCPA Kaoshiung and the Israeli Opera Tel Aviv.

He has worked with conductors like Giacomo Sagripanti, Kazushi Ono, Fabio Luisi, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Daniel Harding, Carlo Rizzi, Antonino Fogliani, Frank Beermann, Marc Albrecht, Tomas Netopil and directors like Mariame Clément, Barrie Kosky, Frank Castorf, Tatjana Gürbaca, Guy Joosten, Vincent Broussard and Stefan Herheim.

Tijl Faveyts is also a well sought-after concert singer (Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Musikverein and Konzerthaus Vienna, Singel Antwerp, Concertgebouw Bruges and Amsterdam) and has often performed Bach’s “St. Matthew Passion” and “St. John Passion”, Handel’s “The Messiah”, Haydn’s “Die Jahreszeiten”, “Die Schöpfung”, and Mozart’s “Requiem”.

Season 2021-22 will take him as Fasolt (»Das Rheingold«) with Kent Nagano to the Philhamonie Köln and Concertgebouw Amsterdam and as Landgraf Hermann to the Heidenheim Opernfestspiele. In January 2022 made his housedebut als Vanuzzi (»Die schweigsame Frau«) at the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich.
